may memory project

I was trying to come up with something completely new for this month’s Memory theme but then I realized that I was already working on two projects related to memory. The first is the design for my new band’s  buttons. We are playing our very first show in a few weeks at the Girls Rock! Chicago Camp Kick-Off Party.

For the design of these, I went for something simple, legible, but with enough visual interest for it to catch someone’s eye. What better way to help people “remember” a band than a cute button?!

The other project I’ve been working on is also very personal: the Save the Dates for my wedding. I already had this picture of Brian and I that we took in Palmer Square at 7 in the morning with the self-timer on my camera. I originally took this picture for a Chicago Public Library poster design contest and sadly didn’t win, but I knew I could use it for something else eventually. I wanted vibrant, saturated colors for this and really made sure our personalities were represented in the design, to make sure that our friends and family could hang this on their fridges and not get sick of it! I’m not a huge fan of the typical “wedding” aesthetic, so I wanted it to be sweet and romantic (of course) but also look modern and cool.
