In honor of Groundhog Day (or maybe more accurately Bill Murray), this month’s theme will be “repetition”. (Pretend it’s still yesterday for a few minutes…)
February is a month that holds the promise of the spring to come. It’s still winter, but the vernal equinox is just over the horizon. The “cross-quarter” day, or day between the equinoxes, is recognized worldwide with varying symbolism. For us in the USA it is of course Groundhog Day. Others proclaim it Candlemas, Saint Brigit’s Day or Imbolic. They all have the same meaning, however. On this day we find out that winter will either last longer or spring will come sooner.
Regardless of the remaining length of the season, spring will eventually come. And then summer. Then fall and so on. Before you know it, winter will repeat itself. It’s intensity may change, but it’s re-appearance is inevitable.
And so this month we will recognize and explore this notion of repeating.
I wonder where it will lead.
